Overview

Omni News ("the App") is a news aggregation application. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data we handle and, more importantly, what we do not collect.

Data We Do NOT Collect

No personal information. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information.
No account required. The App does not require registration or login of any kind.
No first-party tracking. We do not operate analytics, tracking pixels, or fingerprinting. The free tier shows ads via Google AdMob (see Third-Party Advertising below); Pro subscribers see no ads.
No location data. We do not access or store your location.
No contacts, photos, or other device data. We do not access any data on your device beyond what is necessary for the App to function.

Data Stored on Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted to us or any third party:

User preferences: Your selected news perspective (e.g., left, center, right), appearance settings, theme selection, and notification preferences.
Saved articles: Articles you bookmark are stored locally using on-device storage.
Bias overrides: Any custom bias ratings you assign to news sources.
Hidden sources: Sources you choose to hide from your feed.

This data remains entirely on your device. We have no ability to access, read, or retrieve it.

Network Requests

The App makes network requests solely to fetch publicly available RSS feeds from news sources (e.g., BBC, Reuters, AP News). These requests go directly from your device to the news source servers. We do not operate or route traffic through any intermediary server.

The App also loads source favicons from Google's public favicon service for display purposes only.

In-App Purchases

Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive, process, or store any payment information, billing details, or Apple ID data.

Third-Party Advertising

The free tier of Omni News displays ads served by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, AdMob may collect:

Device identifiers (the Advertising Identifier / IDFA, only with your consent via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt)
Ad interaction data (whether you viewed or tapped an ad)
Approximate location derived from IP address, for ad targeting

This data is collected and processed by Google, not by us. We do not receive or have access to it. Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can decline tracking when the App Tracking Transparency prompt appears, or change your choice at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.

Subscribing to Omni News Pro removes all ads. No advertising identifiers or ad interaction data are collected from Pro users.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The third-party advertising SDK may collect device identifiers as described above. If you believe a child under 13 is using the App, please contact us.

Data We Share

We do not share, sell, rent, or transfer any data to any third party. The only third-party data collection is by Google AdMob as described above, and only in the free tier.

Data Retention

We do not collect or store any user data on our servers. Local data on your device (preferences, saved articles) persists until you delete the App. All AI features (trust explanations, perspective synthesis, Morning Brief) run entirely on your device using Apple's Foundation Models framework; no prompts or responses leave your iPhone.

Your Rights

You can remove all locally stored data by deleting the App. No account is required to use Omni News. You can manage your subscription at any time through Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions on iOS.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
